August's Story

After August Walker was diagnosed with sagittal craniosynostosis last summer, his parents started conducting research online in order to determine what his treatment options were. The family ended up driving from Austin to San Antonio to meet with Dr. Jimenez, who ultimately decided that August was a good candidate for endoscopic surgery.

August’s mother, Meredith Walker, indicated that the surgery went well. She encourages parents who are considering the endoscopic treatment to ask questions and become informed. “Don’t be afraid of the helmet,” she told us. “I know some parents that choose traditional surgery because they don’t want to use the helmet. But it was very easy for us and August.”

We are happy to report that August has fully recovered from his surgery; he is playing and running around like any other 18-month-old.
